The Liverpool Mercury was a weekly newspaper but later became a semi-weekly newspaper and cost about 7 pence( 13p in today's money). The newspaper was first published on Friday 5th July 1811; the newspaper covered a vast amount of different subjects from advertisements to local stories. The advertisements that were included in the newspaper were for auctions etc. There was also a list of ships that were returning to Liverpool, the list included what they returned with and the captian's name and more. On this website we have some earlier and later copies of this newspaper. The Daily Post started on the 11th June 1855 and was the first penny daily newspaper. The Daily Post merged with the Liverpool Mercury in 1904. This was the end of The Liverpool Mercury.
